Charles holds a BSc in Civil Engineering and an MBA in finance. He began his career as a project engineer with a young, progressive consulting firm, gaining valuable experience in the design and project management of large municipal infrastructure projects.

 

In 1995, Charles changed his career direction and became Director of Store Planning for Shoppers Drug Mart. In this role, he managed the conversion of 135 Big V Pharmacy stores to the Shoppers Drug Mart format following the merger of the two companies. In 1998, Charles took on a new role as Director of Design and Construction for Katz Group Canada, managing the store design and construction team for Rexall/Pharma Plus. Between 1998 and 2009, he oversaw the construction of more than 400 new store and renovation projects.

 

In 2009, Charles cofounded Sovereign Asset Management Inc. – a property development company focused on the construction of retail properties in high profile locations throughout Canada. Charles’ role includes maintaining relationships with retail tenants as well as managing a vertically integrated team of design and development professionals. He focuses on land acquisition, leasing, regulatory approvals, site planning, building design, and construction management. Charles is also in charge of handling all aspects of project financing as well as building relationships with investors. Projects completed to date include various retail developments throughout the GTA, Southern Ontario, and the Maritime provinces.
