Rao graduated from Osmania University, in Hyderbad, India with a Bachelor of Commerce. He has worked over 25 years as a professional accountant with experience in the areas of financial accounting, finance and audit.

 

In Kenya, he held the senior position of Finance Director with Somak Safaris, one of the leading companies in the tourism industry. He managed the Accounting and Finance Department’s branches located across three cities and two countries. After migrating to Canada in 2009, Rao has worked with IGRI Inc. and Riocan Management Inc. as a Property Accountant, handling a variety of real estate portfolios including commercial, retail, industrial and residential.

 

In 2017, he joined the Sovereign Asset Management team, taking on the role of Controller. Rao manages the day to day accounting and finance requirements for multiple companies including preparing the yearend financial statements, working with tenants with respect to rents and common area and maintenance charges and managing cash flows.  In addition, Rao works with bank managers to arrange the financing of new projects and mortgage renewals. He is currently working towards his designation through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants U.K. and CPA Ontario which he anticipates on completing in December of 2019.
