Born in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, Roger Ferreira moved to Canada when he was 28. After settling in Toronto, he began working as a construction superintendent on retail projects where he learned to deal with clients in an open and personal way, developing long-term customer relationships. 

 

Roger founded North America Carpentry in 1998 and quickly built solid relationships with clients allowing him to expand his business. After 5 years, Roger changed the company name to North America General Contractor (NAGC) to reflect the widening scope of his company. 

 

In 2006, Roger and his wife Rita founded Marquel Ltd.- a holding company for residential real estate investments accumulated over the previous 10 years. 

 

In 2009, Roger partnered with Charles Dyer in the founding of Sovereign Asset Management (SAM) – a commercial property development company focused on prime retail locations across Canada. Sovereign continues to evolve and expand its horizons, creating and maintaining long standing relationships with leading national retailers. 

 

Roger’s long-term strategy is to build a business focused not only on its clients, but also on its employees. He realizes that the heart of any company is its workers, and his goal is to create a professional environment where employees are valued.
